How we write our questions

1. Start from the official outline

Each practice test starts with the testing agency's published content outline: the topics, how many questions each topic gets, the time limit, the passing score and the exact reference editions (for example, the 2021 IPC for Utah plumbing and the 2023 NEC for Utah electrical). Our simulations use the same length and topic mix.

2. Write original questions tied to a reference

Every question is original; we never copy questions from testing agencies or other prep companies. Each one cites the code section, statute or rule that answers it, so you learn where to find it in your tabbed books. Real Utah trade exams are open book, so many of our questions are “find it in the code” questions.

3. Independent verification

A separate review pass answers each question without seeing the key, checks the citation, and recomputes every calculation. Any mismatch is fixed or removed before the question goes live.

4. You can flag anything

Every answer has a “Report a problem” link. We review every report, and each exam page shows when its content was last verified.

What we don't do
